Every year the UNITED NATIONS implore people around the world to celebrate World Environment Day (WED) and World Oceans Day, whose purpose is to bring awareness of the environment and its importance in relation to Oceans, biodiversity, and ecosystems to everyone. Jointly this year’s themes were focused on “Plastic Pollution” and a call to action for us to come together to combat one of the wicked environmental challenges of our time.
Center for Early Green Education in collaboration with Foundation Starters Initiative on June 5th & June 8th 2018 celebrated this year’s World Environment Day at High Tree College, Ipaja and World Ocean Day at Konsol Private College respectively Lagos, Nigeria by screening the film – “Albatross” a film by Chris Jordan, the film shows how our obsession with plastic is killing the bird, and this gives us a sense that we might be increasing the pace of biodiversity extinction.
